The much maligned BE12 is at least having some success on the minor fronts. Today Captain Gilbert Ware Murlis-Green, of 17 Squadron, flying BE12 (6601) achieved success by shooting down, in company with Lieutenant Franklyn Geoffrey Saunders, an enemy Albatross which was forced to land near the squadron’s aerodrome at Lahana.

The crew, Christian Bohnensiek and Otto Martin Rudolph Graf von Schwerin from FFA 66.

After the war the aircraft was flown to New Zealand for display as a war trophy.
