9 October 1916 – Kennard captured

The weather allowed some flying today.

2nd Lieutenant Charles Thornton Cleaver of 3 Squadron RFC was shot in the foot by ground fire while on patrol in his Morane.

Later in the day around 4.15, 2nd Lieutenant Caspar Kennard and Air Mechanic B C Digby from 16 Sqn RFC set off on patrol in their BE2c (4494). They did not  return and were reported taken prisoner.
