27 December 1915 – Porter Captured

Captain George Thomas Porter, one of the original Expeditionary Force was forced to land behind enemy lines and made prisoner today. He was carrying out a routine reconnaissance near Lille in his Bristol Scout (4673).

Captain Porter flew to France on 13 August 1914 as an Aircraft Park pilot, transporting spare machines to France for 2 and 3 Squadron.

Porter had been one the men on the Army’s first flying course back in 1911.
