4 December 1915 – New recruits at Reading

A new School of Instruction for officers opened at Reading on 1 December. Officers who are candidates for the Royal Flying Corps will attend Reading for instruction in engines and the rigging of aeroplanes, and in map reading, reconnaissance, co-operation between the Flying Corps and other arms, signalling, and organization. The school will also serve as a depot from which vacancies in the reserve squadrons could be filled.

Today, the school accepted its first intake of 36 officers from all over the British Army.
