30 November 1915 – One up, two down

Captain C Gordon-Bell of 10 Squadron had some success today when he shot down an enemy aircraft whilst on patrol in his Bristol Scout (4675) near Douai. He tussled with an LVG which suddenly turned tail and fell rapidly from 4000ft, .eventually sideslipping and landing in a field.

Less fortunate were 2nd Lieutenant Herbert Stanford Ward and Lieutenant Sidney Earl Buckley of 16 Squadron who were shot down in their BE2c (1717) while carrying out photo reconnaissance of the front line. They crashed and were taken prisoner.
