12 October 1915 – A lull

Things have quietened down for the RFC on the Western Front with only one combat reported today.

Captain GAK Lawrence and Lieutenant C Gordon-Burge were in their RE7 at 8000ft protecting Captain Christie when they were attacked by two Albatrosses. There was an exchange of fire and one Albatross threw out white lights to call for AA fire – though none came. Another Albatross attacked from the rear hitting the RE7 around 30 times. Burge engaged the Albatross with his Lewis gun and managed to drive it off. Another enemy aircraft, this time an LVG, attacked without causing any further damage.

The whole combat ended inconclusively as the RE7 was able to outrun the other aircraft.
