7 September 1915 – More accidents

2Lt Geoffrey Brian Hobbs of 9 Squadron RFC, aged 19, was killed in a flying accident today. He was testing a new Martinsyde (2821), a type he had not flown before. He took off from Brooklands without incident this morning.

About 30 minutes later witnesses saw the aircraft suddenly turn, nose dive and somersault into the ground near Martin Mill, Dover. Hobbs was killed instantly.
