16 August 1915 – Drury and Maclean shot down

8 Squadron RFC suffered another loss today. 2nd Lieutenants Dauhney D Drury (pilot) and Walter Alexander Maclean (observer) were on reconnaissance around 4pm today when their aircraft, a BE2c (2006) was hit by anti-aircraft fire. Maclean was slightly wounded and unfortunately they were forced to land behind enemy lines. Both men have been captured and made prisoners of war.
