Captain Charles Collet RNAS, hero of the Dusseldorf raid, struck again today in the Dardanelles. He was on patrol in his Voisin with observer Major Rudolph Hogg RFC, when they encountered a German aircraft. Hogg proved himself either a good or lucky shot, as armed only with a rifle he managed to hit the engine of the enemy aircraft. It was forced to land near the looming mass of Achi Baba.
The crew abandoned the aircraft, which was just as well for them as French artillery were quick on the uptake and soon destroyed what remained of it.
