2 May 1915 – A Contemptible Little Flying Corps

At the start of the war, the RFC had arrived in France with 63 aircraft of various types. By May 1915, the Royal Flying Corps had expanded to 166 aircraft.

In contrast, the French Aéronautique Militaire had 1,150 aircraft available. The vast majority of the operations on the Western Front were therefore carried out by the French.
