In preparation for the offensive around the village of Neuve Chapelle tomorrow, the RFC has gathered most of its strength in France to assist the Army. A total of seven squadrons plus an additional flight from 9 Squadron, totalling 85 aeroplanes (Plus 18 in reserve at the aircraft park) will be involved. The order of battle is shown.
In addition to this, 1500 copies of a trench map based on the aerial photography carried out by 2 and 3 Squadrons has been produced by the photographic section and distributed to the various army formations. For the first time in its history a British army will go into action with a precise map of the ememy’s defences.
