1 March 1915 – New fighter delivered straight to the enemy

A barely used example of the new Vickers F.B.5 was reported captured today along with it crew. F.B.5 1621 only arrived in France on 5 February with 2 Squadron RFC. It was then transferred to 16 Squadron.

Second Lieutenants M. R. Chidson and D. C. W. Sanders were on patrol early yesterday morning, but did not return and were reported missing. Reports today suggest that they were forced to land behind German lines and taken prisoner. They were unable to destroy the aircraft and and the new plane fell into enemy hands.
